Within the next several weeks, we will be deciding on the next set of projects to be funded with the money we have raised through all of our hard work. So many of you have given sacrificially of your time, energy, and skills to organize and carry out incredible events for the last several years. Your work has enabled us to fund Prader-Willi syndrome research at a level many thought was impossible. Because of FPWR, PWS research has been placed on the front burner and there is no going back to the old days when it was seldom mentioned and even more rarely championed. I am so proud of all that we have done together and can hardly wait to see this next round of projects.
According to Theresa, this was a particularly fruitful year for project proposals. The people and ideas
that we are drawing into the study of Prader-Willi syndrome are so impressive and give us all so much hope. The only concern we have is that despite our best efforts, good projects will be rejected and crucial information will remain a mystery because of the lack of funding. I have said this before, and I'll probably say it again, but our dream is to have a bank account sufficient to fund every worthy project that comes to us. Imagine having money sitting in the bank, available for research the moment a project comes along that is deemed relevant and promising. Imagine the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research being able to fund more projects, more clinical trials, more work that will get us where we want to be in OUR children's lifetime. Imagine….
While there is never a bad time for fundraising, now is a particularly good time to commit yourself to FPWR. If you have been thinking of making a donation to the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research, or if you have been thinking of talking to a relative or friend who is able to support us financially, now is the time! If you have an idea for a fundraiser, call me and let's get it going! If you know of a corporation or business that is in need of a charity to support, we're right here!
Let's think together of all the possible avenues of fundraising that may enable us to fund every good project laying on Theresa's desk today. Let's don't let that "big one" slip away from us just because we didn't have the money to pay for it. We've done 20 projects since 2003–an absolutely remarkable track record. Let's see what we can do to keep this momentum going and blow the top off of Prader-Willi syndrome !
Let me know how I can help and, together, we will change the world of PWS forever!
Thanks, again, for everything you have done to get us to the point and for all you are going to do to keep us moving forward!
