Each year, the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (FPWR) recognizes outstanding individuals who have made a profound difference in the lives of those affected by Prader-Willi syndrome. This year, we honored two remarkable leaders for their contributions to the PWS community: Dr. Diane Stafford and Dr. Anish Bhatnagar.
Innovator in Clinical Care Award: Diane Stafford, MD
We are proud to present the 2025 Innovator in Clinical Care Award to Dr. Diane Stafford, in recognition of the incredible impact she has had on clinical care for individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome.
Dr. Stafford’s leadership—especially through the Clinical Investigation Collaborative (CLIC)—has transformed how we understand and support individuals with PWS. Her dedication to advancing care, building collaboration among clinicians, and driving evidence-based practices has made a lasting difference in the lives of families and providers alike.
Known for her thoughtful approach, clear vision, and deep compassion, Dr. Stafford continues to set the standard for what high-quality, person-centered care looks like in the PWS community. Families and clinicians have benefited tremendously from her tireless efforts—and FPWR is deeply grateful for all she has done.
Champion of Hope Award: Anish Bhatnagar, MD
We are honored to present the 2025 Champion of Hope Award to Dr. Anish Bhatnagar, whose visionary leadership has helped change the landscape of treatment for PWS.
As CEO of Soleno Therapeutics, Dr. Bhatnagar and his team pioneered the development of DCCR (now VYKAT XR)—the first treatment approved for hyperphagia in individuals with PWS. This historic achievement represents years of persistence, rigorous science, and an unwavering belief that families impacted by PWS deserve effective, life-changing therapies.
For Dr. Bhatnagar, supporting the rare disease community is more than just a professional duty; it's a commitment marked by consistently listening to families, advocating for them, and keeping their needs at the heart of his work. His dedication extends globally through his role on the board of the non-profit Indo US Rare, where he helps advance rare disease research and clinical care worldwide, organizing international collaborations and meetings that make a tangible impact for patients. His efforts have given hope to thousands and laid a foundation for a brighter, healthier future for those living with PWS.
