What New Parents Can Expect at the FPWR Family Conference

Families who have received a PWS diagnosis within the past 24 months are invited to join two special sessions created specifically for newly diagnosed families.

Endocrine Recommendations for Children Ages 0-2

What medical care should your child receive during the first years after diagnosis? Pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Sani Roy will provide an overview of growth hormone therapy, nutritional phases, available medications, recommended screenings, and the specialists families should consider as part of their child's care team.

Muskuloskeletal Issues in PWS26 Conference Social Templates (1)-1

As children with PWS grow, they may face orthopedic challenges such as flat feet, hip dysplasia, scoliosis, and bone fragility. In this session, Dr. Harold van Bosse will discuss what families should know, what signs to watch for, and how early intervention can support musculoskeletal health and development.

Conference attendees have access to a discounted room rate of $221/night at the Marriott Philadelphia Downtown, but rooms are limited and expected to sell out.

Melissa became involved with FPWR in 2014 after her son, Kemett, was diagnosed with PWS. That year she hosted her first One SMALL Step Walk which raised over $115,000 and earned herself the honor of hosting the FPWR conference in Austin, TX in 2015. Melissa has over 9 years of fundraising and development experience and a Masters in Social Work from The University of Texas with an emphasis on Community and Administrative Leadership. Melissa will be assisting with database management and administrative duties.
