Kids and adults alike share how fun and motivating they found last year's challenge. "We were so proud of Addy's motivation during the challenge," said mom, Bobbi Pogrant. "Each day Addy got up early to go walking before school, walked during her recesses and walked most nights too - all her idea!"

Declan, age 9, loved checking the leaderboard. According to his mom, Allison Shelton, he would check the leaderboard regularly, then set his goal for the week to help him move up. "We found the entire family walking more during the challenge," says Allison, "it was a great activity to keep us outside and active during the lead up to Thanksgiving!"

 Participating is simple:

  1. Create a Fundraising Page to share with friends and family
  2. Download the Strava app and follow Foundation for Prader-Willi Research. (The free version of the app is all you need!)
  3. Start logging your distance - track every mile you walk, jog, or run between October 5 and Thanksgiving Day. Set a personal distance goal and get out there! We hope to see your name on the weekly leaderboard!

Throughout the challenge, every participant will receive motivation mail from FPWR's trotting turkey! Raise or Donate $35 and receive a finisher medal and completion certificate. Those who raise $300 or more will receive a Grateful Box that includes a Live Life FULL water bottle, FPWR cooling towel, Harvesting Hope finisher medal + certificate!

Susan Hedstrom is the Executive Director for the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research. Passionate about finding treatments for PWS, Susan joined FPWR in 2009 shortly after her son, Jayden, was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Rather than accepting PWS as it has been defined, Susan has chosen to work with a team of pro-active and tireless individuals to accelerate PWS research in order to change the future of PWS. Inspired by her first FPWR conference and the team of researchers that were working to find answers for the syndrome, she joined the FPWR team in 2010 and led the development of the One SMALL Step walk program. Under Susan’s leadership, over $15 million has been raised for PWS related research.
